Product Photography Prompts for E-commerce Brands
Catalogue, hero and lifestyle shots each need a different setup. A practical framework for generating a full product shoot without a studio.
A product shoot is not one image. It is three, each with a different job, and each needs its own prompt structure.
1. The catalogue shot
Pure white or single-tone background, even light, no drama. The job is clarity and consistency across a grid.
"Product centred on a seamless white background, large softbox from camera left with a white fill card opposite, soft contact shadow beneath, no props, perfectly level, colour accurate, ultra sharp, e-commerce product photography."
2. The hero shot
This one sells. Hard key, deep shadows, a set built from a single material, copy space reserved.
"Product on a rough travertine podium, hard key light from the upper right creating a crisp edge highlight, deep controlled shadow, subtle haze for depth, generous negative space above for headline copy, medium-format detail, advertising photography."
3. The lifestyle shot
Context and aspiration. Real environment, natural light, product in use.
"Product in use on a sunlit kitchen counter, hard morning window light casting a diagonal shadow, shallow depth of field, natural colour, candid lifestyle photography, one supporting prop only."
Keep the product identical
The hardest part of AI product work is consistency. Two approaches help: describe the product with precise physical attributes — material, finish, proportion, colour code — and reuse the same reference image across generations where your tool supports it.
Before you publish
Check the details a customer will zoom into: seams, stitching, text on packaging, reflections that reveal an impossible studio. Generated text on labels is still the most common giveaway — leave labels blank and add real typography in your design tool.
